A special offering for the Caring Circle program at Peabody Retirement Home will be received on May 25, 2008. Each gift will be used to provide services and make a personal difference in the lives of the elderly at our Presbyterian related retirement community at North Manchester. Please be generous with your response to the needs of our friends at Peabody. Join us
on May 11, 2008, as we celebrate the Day of Pentecost and receive the
Pentecost Offering. On this day we join with Christians around the world
to celebrate God’s gift of the Holy spirit to the church. The Pentecost
Offering benefits children at risk, youth, and young adults. 40% of the
offering stays with our congregation for ministry with children at risk.
The other 60% will support General Assembly advocates for children and
provide leadership development for our youth and young adults.
Thank you again, Carole, for all your hard work in coordinating this important event for our church and community. |
THANK
YOU! Once again Dayton Memorial Presbyterian Church was able to
successfully participate in the largest Christmas assistance effort in
the Greater Lafayette area.
Approximately seventy volunteers assisted in making it a wonderful day for our guests. We were able to provide a more joyful Christmas for 20 area families with 45 children. The families were and are still greatly appreciative of your generosity. Your generosity truly expresses the spirit of caring and sharing and is what keeps our community going strong. We appreciate your support and look forward to setting up the Jubilee Tree and hosting Jubilee Christmas next year.
Presbyterian Habitat House 2007 COMPLETE
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The Presbyterian House 07 located at the corner of Attica and Prairie
streets in Stockwell is complete. Construction was finally finished on
December 14, and the House Blessing was scheduled for Sunday, December
16. Of course weather delayed the House Blessing, and it was
rescheduled for Tuesday night, December 18. During the House Blessing
representatives of our group of Presbyterian churches commented on the
project and construction of the house. The Rossville Presbyterian
Church joined our coalition on the 07 House and was instrumental in
funding and in its construction. Keys to the Presbyterian House 07 were
presented our Habitat partner, Crystal Wilson.
Crystal, her 14 year old daughter, Marissa; and her eighteen month old
son, Kolten, have been anxiously waiting this day for months. Though
the “landscaping” is more of a mud bog now, the house is quite livable.
Crystal and family plan to move into the house over the holidays. You
can see a picture of the Wilson family on the website,
www.lafayettehabitat.org.
Click on “Current Builds” and “Presbyterian House”.
The Lord has built another house with much help from Dayton Memorial and
seven other Presbyterian Churches. Several member of our congregation
participated in the building and many more contributed supporting
gifts. A great big thank you goes to all of you. This house was not
built in vain.

Donations are always
needed for the local food pantry. Particularly, canned vegetables,
canned fruit, canned soups, tuna, pork and beans, saltine crackers, and
cereal.
Non-perishable food items, paper products and toiletries are welcome.
We need one volunteer to work the pantry each week, especially the last
week of the month. The pantry is open each Friday from 9:00
to 11:00 AM.
If you can help, please contact Carol Bull or Carol Frantz.
Thank you to Betsy, Abby, Molly & David Wagner,Carol Frantz, Carol Bull, and
Margaret Grimes
for
volunteering in April.
This
congregation has offered food to the hungry through the
Dayton Food
Pantry for many years. How many individuals and families do you think
have been helped? Has it been 5,000? Has it been more? Our Mission
Committee wants to give everyone the opportunity to help feed the next
5,000. We’re going to ask you to give the symbolic “loaves and fish”
that will help make it possible.
For 12 consecutive Sundays beginning on January 6, we’re asking you to
bring a different staple food item in support of the Dayton Food Pantry.
There will be shopping carts in the vestibule and parlor where you can
leave your donations each week as you come into the building for Sunday
school and worship.

Family
Services, Inc. February Penny Harvest
Save your pennies!
Memorial
Presbyterian Church will be collecting pennies (and any other loose
change or bills) all during the month of February to benefit Family
Services, Inc.’s Programs to “help families help themselves”.
In February, Family Services, Inc. is conducting a fund raising campaign
called the Penny Harvest.
Family
Services, Inc. is a private non profit organization founded in 1964 to
strengthen families and individual family members of all ages and
incomes in Tippecanoe and the surrounding counties. They believe that
families that are strong will rear strong children and care for their
elders. At the heart of Family Services, Inc.’s programs is the belief
that self sufficiency is important to everyone. These building blocks
will construct a strong foundation and enable family members to face
life’s challenges with independence and dignity, resulting in a better
community for all of us.
Containers to collect your spare change will be placed in the church for
your convenience in February. Please look for them before or after
church.
Thank
you to everyone who volunteered sorting, laundering and staffing the
Kid’s Closet during the month of April!
We continue to accept new or gently used SPRING & SUMMER clothing,
sizes newborn through girl’s juniors and young men’s and maternity
wear.
A very large number of families were helped at last month’s
distribution and we expect this to continue for a while. We have a
very steady flow of clothing coming in. However, it is very
important that we keep the clothing racks full to accommodate the
number of families. So, if you have any time to give in helping
with this process it would be much appreciated! Please contact me
with any questions or volunteer opportunities.
God Bless,
Julie Boles
